Windows Media Player tries to seduce Mac users with its new version. The audio and video formats are often sources of trouble between different platforms. Mac OS X version of Windows Media Player is just a constrained version which does not offer either features to manage an audio/video library (indeed, it would overlap with iTunes) or the DRM needed for playing back the files that have been bought from sites like Virginmega or Fnacmusic. But unfortunately, this version of Windows Media Player for Mac OS X has just been abandoned by Microsoft, thus there will not be updates or new versions. However, Mac users can always download freely the component of Windows Media for QuickTime.
